Reminiscent of Alex Katz's portraits of his wife Ada, and his New York society, Frank Korb's portraits break down faces into their most basic geometry. Large jig-sawed swaths of color magically reveal the personality of the subject - mainly friends and family of the artist.
Friday, January 18 and Saturday, January 19 Milwaukee's East Town and Historic Third Ward will be sponsoring it's 20 year old tradition of Gallery Night and Day. I will be at Urban Accents Gallery on Friday night for the reception. This quarterly event will have 57 venues throughout the downtown Milwaukee area to choose from. During the Gallery Night event there will be a free Xpress shuttle service to get you from one area of the city to another. This is a continual loop that has 5 stops (approximately every 15 minutes) and will run from 5 - 9pm.
