25 February 2008

In addition to the exhibition in La Crosse at the Pump House Gallery, the daily drawings continue. 25 February 2008 is one of many of Julie Korb that I am not sure if she even knows are being drawn. I love drawing from the live model, even if they are unaware.

Pump House Gallery - La Crosse, WI

Tuesday, February 26 - Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Pump House Gallery in La Crosse, WI, I will be exhibiting my many portraits of my friends and family. I am very thankful to the people at the Pump House for the opportunity to share my work to Western Coast of the state of Wisconsin. The installation was a great success to brighten up the newly remodeled Pump House Regional Arts Center and I wish them a very hearty congratulations on 30 years as an arts center for the La Crosse and surrounding areas. The show will be coming down on Saturday the 15th of March, so please join me (and bring a friend) on Friday the 14th for the reception. I hope to see a lot of people there, old faces and new faces alike.

21 February 2008

Politics can bring out the joy and celebration for many. What joy this celebrator felt when the MQM party won 19 seats in the Pakistan Parliamentary Election on Monday. How happy were you when the votes came in on your local election?

13 February 2008 - Snow Tongue

This weeks drawing choice comes from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's pages. A lovely young child trying with all their might to attain the ever allusive snow flake on the tongue. "A child with a taste for winter catches a few snow flakes on E. Locust St. near N. Maryland Ave. on Tuesday." Welcome to the headlines in Wisconsin. This Sunday is set for another major snowstorm. I am sure I will get the taste for snow out of my system before too long. As you can see, I have traded my individual pages of watercolor paper to a sketchbook/pad. I am enjoying the off white color and smooth texture of the paper as well as the fact that they drawings are all together, 24 of them at least. One day got ahead of the next already, but I think that will make for a story later. The end result will probably be empty sketchbooks anyway when the pages are removed for display (on not display,a book of sketches is a nice addition to my collection).

Greser et. al.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my work in the Gallery Guide of Manhattan. The CAN forum has been a great place to make contact with a wide variety of artists, and for that I am appreciative. The conversations I have had regarding speaking at exhibitions and leading art talks was very helpful, as was the additional resource for sharing info on current and upcoming shows. Thanks again for the opportunity and I hope that the forum continues to build and help the global art community. I invite everyone to visit my website and blog at www.frankkorb.com.

Best Regards -

Daily Drawing - 2 February 2008

Here is my choice for this weeks drawing. Taken from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a young supporter of Mr. Barack Obama for President of the United States. I have been doing a number of contour drawings as of late. Maybe its a time thing, and I need to commit a bit more of it to the daily drawings. I do, however, enjoy the fluidity and spontaneity of the works.
